Free online Minesweeper, built for the browser
Minesweeper has been sitting on office desktops since 1990, and it is still one of the cleanest logic puzzles ever made. Every tile you open gives you information. Every number you read narrows down where the mines can be. Play well and you never click blindly — you deduce.
This version runs entirely in your browser. Click a difficulty on the right, or start on the beginner board and work your way up. The timer starts on your first click, and that first click is guaranteed to be safe, so you never lose a board before you have made a single decision.
What you get here
Three classic boards
Beginner (9x9, 10 mines), intermediate (16x16, 40 mines) and the infamous expert board (30x16, 99 mines). Custom sizes are one click away if you want something in between.
Real controls
Right click to flag, click both buttons or double-click a number to chord, long press on a phone. Arrow keys, space and F work too, so you can play without a mouse at all.
Your own records
Best times are stored privately in your browser. No sign-up, no leaderboard spam, nothing leaves your device.
How a round works
You start with a covered board and a counter showing how many mines are hidden. Open a tile. If it is empty, the game floods the surrounding area automatically. If it shows a number, that number tells you exactly how many of the eight tiles around it are mines. Place flags on the ones you have proven to be mines, and use that information to open the rest. Clear every safe tile and you win. Open a single mine and the board explodes.
That is the whole game. The depth comes from how fast you can read the board — and how gracefully you handle the boards that force you to guess.
